On this 2.5-hour literary tour of Brooklyn Heights, Cobble Hill and Boerum Hill, you'll see the sites and sip drinks at the pubs. You'll also hear the stories and writings of the authors that helped shaped the most famous borough in the world.
Meet at a centrally-located bar, where local actors will take you on a tour of several unique Brooklyn bars that were once the favorites of generations of well-known writers. At each pub, relax over a drink, receive a history of the pub and neighborhood and the writers connected with that stop. Then watch a performance by the actors of some of the writers' works. As you visit each neighborhood, you'll go back in time and see how the area started as five small Dutch villages and then transformed into modern day Brooklyn.
Your guides will point out some of the unique architecture in the area, especially those connected to the literary history, as well as sites integral to the underground railroad, and the influence of Robert Moses' urban planning. Visit some of the only areas in Brooklyn historically protected as the neighborhood is quickly growing. Through the writings, the architecture and the stories, you'll learn why Brooklyn truly is the most famous borough. The tour ends at the Brooklyn Inn, near several subway train lines.
